Before you Lease…

What is leasing?

Car leasing is like renting a vehicle from a dealership . Instead of paying the full cost, a customer agrees to pay the dealership a specific amount per month for a set period, often 24 , 36 to 48 months. At the end of the lease, customers can return the vehicle and order a new one.

Why should I lease a car?

There are many different benefits to leasing, including:

  • Flexible term and mileage profiles to suit you
  • Fixed cost motoring
  • You only pay for the use of the vehicle
  • At the end of your contract simply hand the vehicle back with no balloon payment
  • Option of including servicing with the contract
  • No depreciation or disposal risk
What documents do you require in order to lease a car?
  • Copy of your driver’s license
  • Utility bill
  • 3 months bank statements

No, the vehicle will always remain the property of ZuCar Personal Leasing.

Who is responsible for insuring the vehicle?

We do not include insurance on a lease contract.  You will need to arrange your own fully comprehensive insurance for your lease vehicle. You will need to be insured before driving the vehicle. We can assist in finding a provider for you if needed.

Can I see my car before I lease it?

If we have a similar make and model in stock, you can view the car at one of our experience centres. However, this may not be the case at the time of your order and therefore not always possible. Our online configurator allows you to the see the digital version of the car before placing your order.

When do I pay my deposit/initial rentals?

Initial advance rentals must be paid in full before the vehicle is registered and before the start of your lease. If your vehicle choice is not in stock and has to be built, a minimum of 6 months rentals must be paid before we can order the vehicle.

Is my deposit refundable?

If we have ordered the vehicle from the factory and the vehicle build has started or your vehicle has been registered your deposit is not refundable. You may use the deposit against the lease of another vehicle. If we can not supply the vehicle or you paid the deposit prior to financial acceptance we will refund the deposit in full. Talk to our team about these conditions prior to paying your initial deposit.

Can I trade in my current vehicle?

Yes we will buy any car even if you do not take out a lease with us. Our online appraisal system allows us to value your vehicle hassle free. If you do decide to go ahead with a lease you may use part or all of the proceeds of the sale against the deposit on the new car.

During your Lease…

Can I change my direct debit date?

Our direct debit date is set as the first day of each month and therefore it is not possible to change this date.

Who is responsible for the vehicle maintenance?

You will be responsible for maintaining the vehicle.  This will include items such as servicing, maintenance and tyres. You can avail of one of our servicing packs which will allow you to help fix and reduce costs of servicing however it is still your responsibility to make sure the vehicle is maintained in accordance to the manufacturers guidelines.

What happens if I want to terminate my lease?

You may terminate your lease at any stage and change it for another vehicle or simply hand it back. Please contact our leasing team and they will assist you. The cost of this is dependent on what deposit level was paid originally and how long you have left on the contract but as a guide it will be no more than 50% of the remaining lease rentals.

You don’t! We do it on your behalf and we post it out to you.

What happens if I have an accident or damage the vehicle?

What happens when my contract is due to end?

Once the contract is completely finished, you return the car or order a new one. Vehicles will be checked for damage outside of our fair wear and tear policy and for excess mileage. You can self assess any potential damage prior to returning the vehicle through our state of the art valuation app.

What happens if I go over my agreed mileage?

If you exceed your contract mileage, there will be an excess to pay at the end of the lease, charged per kilometre you drive beyond your contract mileage.

This will vary depending on the type of vehicle & length of the contract. If you think you may exceed your mileage at any time, please contact us to discuss options to avoid an end of contract charge by re-writing your contract to suit your changing mileage requirements.

What happens if I do less mileage than the contract?

Unfortunately, there is no refund on under mileage however we will take this into account if you are renewing your vehicle with us.

Why is there a charge for excess mileage?

If your contract runs over the agreed mileage you must pay for mileage you have gone over. The payment isn’t a penalty or fine it is simply a payment to cover the extra depreciation and wear the vehicle has taken on over the period of the lease. The excess mileage is typically the equivalent to the difference in the monthly rentals has you signed up to a higher mileage lease.

Will my vehicle be collected at the end of the contract?

At the end of the contract, you must return the vehicle to one of our experience centres which will be discuss with you at the end of the agreement. We can arrange home collection, if necessary,  the cost of which depends on your location.
